Partner/Shareholder
Rick Adamy
is the founding stockholder of Adamy + Company, P.C. and is
currently President. After receiving a MBA in finance from
Michigan State University, he joined Deloitte Haskins & Sells
(now Deloitte & Touche) in 1971. In 1979, he left Deloitte to
start what is today Adamy + Company, P.C.
His
practice area is primarily business valuation, litigation
support and mergers and acquisitions. In addition, Rick has
responsibility for advising corporate clients in the areas of
tax planning, succession planning and business consulting.
Professional certifications include ASA (Accredited Senior
Appraiser), CBA (Certified Business Appraiser) and CPA/ABV
(Accredited in Business Valuation). Rick has also been active
in various community and professional organizations.
His
background in finance and extensive experience with companies
of all sizes in a wide variety of industries gives Rick a
unique perspective when advising his clients.
Rick is
married with two adult children.

Nick
Adamy
Valuation Manager
Nick Adamy joined Adamy + Company,
P.C. in 2006 as a Valuation Manager. Nick provides
closely-held businesses and their owners with valuation and
financial advisory services in connection with mergers and
acquisitions, employee stock ownership plans, business
litigation, management succession planning, corporate
strategic planning and other financial transactions.
Nick has executed a variety of
financial advisory engagements involving mergers &
acquisitions, initial public offerings, leveraged buyouts, and
employee stock ownership plans. He has worked with
public and private companies in the manufacturing,
distribution, consumer products, energy, software and
healthcare industries.
Prior to joining the firm, Nick
was with Duff & Phelps, LLC in Chicago, most recently as a
Vice President where he provided financial advisory services
to middle-market companies. Previously, Nick spent five
years with Tenneco Automotive in engineering and strategic
planning.
Nick earned his BS in industrial
and operations engineering from the University of Michigan.
More recently, he received his MBA from the University of
Michigan Business School in 2002.
Outside of
work, Nick enjoys home improvement projects, gourmet cooking,
and socializing with family and friends. Nick and his
wife recently celebrated the birth of their first child.

Partner/Shareholder
Lori Baker has been with the Firm since 1983 and has been a
shareholder since 1992. Lori is the Tax Partner at Adamy
+ Company and devotes the majority of her time to tax planning
and compliance. Her experience in working in all areas of the
practice gives Lori a unique perspective in advising her
clients. Over the years, Lori has assisted the owners and
employees of numerous businesses in the areas of tax planning
and preparation, estate and trust, retirement and financial
planning, succession planning, ESOPs, and human resources, as
well as accounting and general business consulting.
Lori received her BSBA degree in accounting from Aquinas
College in May 1985 and was awarded her certification in
public accounting (CPA) in September 1985. Lori is a member of
the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants,
Michigan Association of
Certified Public Accountants, and
American Society of Women
Accountants (ASWA). She has held various board positions
with ASWA, including President. Her focus in continuing
education includes receiving a Certificate of Educational
Achievement (CEA) in Tax Planning and Advising for
Closely-Held Business and the Certified Specialist in Estate
Planning (CSEP) designation.
As an active member of her community, Lori holds board
positions with several non-profit groups. She is the long-time
treasurer for the Nature Society of Western Michigan, Past
President for the
West Michigan Estate Planning Council and sits on the
board of the Kent County Parks Foundation. Lori is a
full Board member of
St. Cecilia
Music Society and continues to be a member of the Finance
committee. She is also active in the Service Providers
Committee of the Family Owned Business Council with the
Grand Rapids Chamber of
Commerce and a founding member of the West Michigan
Chapter of inFORUM
(formerly the Women's Economic Club).

Karen J. Barnes, CPB

Paraprofessional
Karen J.
Barnes has been with Adamy + Company since 1984. She received
two associate degrees in business from
Grand Rapids
Community College
in 1982 and 1983. In addition, she has taken various
accounting and tax courses at Grand Valley State University.
Karen
began as a receptionist/secretary and worked her way up to
Office Manager/Paraprofessional. As the firm grew and
the Office Manager position grew, Karen decided in 2005 it was
time to hire a full-time Office Manager so she could devote
her time to the position she enjoyed the most,
Paraprofessional.
Karen
provides tax and accounting services to closely-held
businesses and their owners. She received certification
as a public bookkeeper (CPB) in October 2006 and has earned
certification as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.
Karen’s
professional memberships include the
National Association of
Certified Public Bookkeepers,
Michigan Association of CPAs and the
Grand Rapids Chapter of the International Association of
Administrative Professionals. Karen has served on
the board on several occasions as Treasurer for the Grand
Rapids Chapter of IAAP. In addition, she has served as
chairperson on various committees at the chapter and state
levels of IAAP.

M. Debora Blackmore
Office Manager
Deb joined
Adamy + Company, P.C. in 2006 as Office Manager. Deb’s
responsibilities include supervision of the administrative
staff and office operations, bookkeeping and
human resources.
Prior to
joining Adamy, Deb served as Director of Administration with
the Grand Rapids/Kent County Convention & Visitors Bureau for
twelve years, focusing in the areas of administration, finance
and human resources. Prior to that, Deb was with Image
Tours for seven years as Marketing Manager in the wholesale
European Tour division.
Deb is an
active member and past Treasurer of
Quota International of Grand Rapids, a professional
service club which provides funding and support to both the
hearing-impaired and families in need in Kent County.
She is also a member of the Michigan Chapter for the
Association for
Accounting Administration.
Originally
from Saginaw, Deb and her husband moved to West Michigan in
1986 and make their home on Gun Lake. They especially enjoy
spending time with family, golf, boating and traveling.

Brian G. DeMaagd
Senior
Valuation Analyst
Brian joined
Adamy + Company, P.C. in 2004 and works in the business
valuation practice area as a Senior Valuation Analyst.
He provides guidance to clients in the areas of business
valuation, litigation support, mergers and acquisitions and
ESOPs.
Brian completed
his BBA in finance at Grand Valley State University in 2001.
While in college, Brian served as the President of Grand
Valley’s Finance and Investment Club for two years.
Brian has passed the Level I Chartered Financial Analyst
examination.
Prior to
joining Adamy + Company, P.C., Brian worked for Prudential
Securities as an Investment Research Assistant to a number of
Financial Advisors. More recently, he worked as a Credit
Analyst at Byron Center State Bank.
Outside of
work, Brian enjoys spending time with his friends and family,
playing sports and traveling. He has been involved in a
number of community service projects through his local church
and has worked with Special Olympics and Habitat for Humanity.

Brandon S. Finnie
Valuation
Analyst
Brandon joined
Adamy + Company, P.C. in May of 2006 following a four-month
internship with the Firm. He works in the business
valuation area as a Valuation Analyst and
provides
guidance to clients in the areas of litigation support,
mergers and acquisitions and ESOPs.
Brandon
completed a BBA in finance and accounting at Grand Valley
State University in April of 2006. While attending GVSU,
Brandon was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, Collegiate
Entrepreneurs Organization, Financial Management Association
Honor Society, GVSU Ultimate Frisbee and served two years as
the head Portfolio Manager in Seidman Investment Portfolio
Organization.
Prior to
joining Adamy + Company, P.C., Brandon had internships in
investment research and in the tax department of Steelcase.
Brandon is
currently pursuing his Chartered Financial Analyst
designation.
Outside of
work, Brandon enjoys playing sports, investments and spending
time with friends. He also enjoys being involved in the
community by participating in Junior Achievement and serving
on advisory committees to his former high school and college.

Sheryl L. Gasser
Administrative Assistant
Sheryl joined
Adamy + Company, P.C. in 1991. She received her Associate of
Arts and Sciences from Cornerstone University in 1984.
Sheryl performs
a variety of administrative duties at Adamy + Company. She
also assembles tax returns and financial statements, types
correspondence and prepares 1099's at year-end.
In addition,
Sheryl is responsible for the accounts receivable and billing
procedures for the firm.

Ryan W. Holtz, CPA
Senior Manager
Ryan Holtz
rejoined Adamy + Company, P.C. in August 2004 as a Manager
specializing in strategic planning. Ryan provides
closely-held businesses and their owners with advisory
services in connection with strategic planning, financial
benchmarking, operations analysis, succession planning, cash
management and other financial activities.
Ryan has worked
with numerous family-owned businesses from a variety of
industries. He enjoys being a trusted advisor to his
clients while working with them to achieve their goals.
Prior to
rejoining Adamy + Company, P.C., Ryan was with Bradley, Allen
& Associates in Denver, Colorado for three years where he
served as Accounting Manager. The time spent in Denver
served Ryan well as he was able to gain a broader business
perspective and fine tune his consulting skills. Ryan
worked for Adamy + Company from 1996 – 2002 before leaving for
Denver.
Ryan earned his
BA in Accounting from Adrian College in 1994. He is a
CPA and a member of the
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the
Michigan Association of
Certified Public Accountants.
Ryan, his wife
Trudy, a professional photographer, and their daughter Payton
reside in Rockford. He enjoys playing golf, basketball
and spending time with family and friends.

Sara
Knoper
Accountant
Sara joined Adamy & Company, P.C.
in October 2007. She focuses on tax preparation and accounting
services for businesses and their owners.
Sara is an April 2007 graduate of
Grand Valley State University with a BBA in accounting. She is
currently in the process of completing an MSA degree from
Grand Valley and is pursuing her CPA license. Sara is a member
of
The Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants
and
Beta Gamma Sigma, an international business honor society.
Outside of work, Sara enjoys
leading in Messiah Christian Reformed Church’s youth group
activities. She also enjoys spending time camping and
participating in other outdoor activities with her husband,
family and friends.

Maring
Accountant
Brian joined
Adamy + Company, P.C. in June 2007. He focuses on tax and
accounting compliance services for closely-held businesses and
their owners, as well as a number of consulting services.
Brian holds a
BBA in accounting information management from Davenport
University. He is currently enrolled in Grand Valley State
University’s masters program and is studying to pass the CPA
exam. Brian’s professional memberships include the
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the
Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.
Outside of
work, Brian is a sportsman and enjoys golf and other outdoor
activities, as well as spending time with his wife, family and
friends.

Melissa A. Seguin ,
CPA
Senior
Accountant
Melissa Seguin
joined Adamy & Company, P.C. in May 2005. She provides income
tax compliance and accounting services to closely-held
businesses, their owners and high net worth individuals.
Melissa
completed her BBA in Accounting and Finance at Grand Valley
State University in April 2004. She also received her MS
degree in accounting from Grand Valley State University in
April 2005. After passing the CPA exam on the first try,
she received her license in 2006.
While attending GVSU, she was a member of
Beta
Alpha Psi, an accounting honors society. Melissa’s
professional memberships include the
American Institute of
CPAs, Michigan
Association of Certified Public Accountants, and Grand Valley State University
Accounting Alumni Advisory Board. She is also a member of
American Society of Women
Accountants and is the Scholarship Trustee for the
organization.
Outside of
work, Melissa enjoys playing golf and spending time with her
family and friends.

Paul J. Spindler, CPA, CMA, CFE
Partner/Shareholder
Paul Spindler
joined Adamy + Company, P.C. in 1989 and became a shareholder
in 2000. He is the Accounting Partner and also heads up the
fraud prevention and detection area of the firm. Paul
provides closely-held businesses and their owners with
business consulting, cash flow analysis, budgeting, assistance
in bank financing, internal controls review and fraud
prevention and detection. Paul also has experience in
litigation support engagements.
Prior to
joining the firm, Paul was with Deloitte, Haskins and Sells
(now Deloitte and Touche) where he began his accounting
career.
Paul holds a
BBA in accounting from Grand Valley State University. In
addition to being a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), he is
also a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and a Certified
Fraud Examiner (CFE). Paul is a member of the
American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants, the
Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, the
Institute of Management
Accountants, and the
Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. In addition,
Paul is active in the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce, as
well as Grand Valley State University Seidman School of
Business Alumni Association Board.
Outside of
work, Paul enjoys spending time with family, biking, pheasant,
turkey, deer and waterfowl hunting.
Paul and his
wife Sue live in Rockford. Their daughter Stephanie lives in
Berkley, Michigan, and their daughter Katie and son-in-law
Geoff live in the Chicago area.

Steven D. Struck, CPA
Tax Manager
Steve Struck
joined Adamy + Company, P.C. in 2003 and has since been
promoted to Tax Manager. Steve’s responsibilities as Tax
Manager include tax compliance, generating and implementing
tax-saving ideas and tax planning for closely-held businesses
and their owners.
Steve began his
career at Deloitte & Touche, where he focused on several areas
of taxation including corporations, partnerships and
individuals.
Steve holds a
BS in accounting from Calvin College and is currently enrolled
in the Masters of Taxation program at Grand Valley State
University. He is a member of the
Michigan
Association of Certified Public Accountants and the
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, as
well as the Calvin College Meeting Business Alumni Board.
Outside of
work, Steve is an active member of Brookside Christian
Reformed Church. He enjoys sports, travel and music.
Steve is a die-hard New York Mets fan and enjoys the
distinction of being the only Mets fan currently living in the
Grand Rapids area.

Tiffany S. Taft
Administrative Assistant
Tiffany joined
Adamy + Company, P.C. in 2004. She supports both the
valuation/litigation and accounting departments.
Prior to
joining Adamy, Tiffany had been at home with her children for
two years. Before that she worked at Old Kent Bank for
13 years, most recently as a Corporate Training Officer.
Tiffany
received her BA in Business Management, with honors, from
Davenport University.
Outside of
work, Tiffany is active in her church and volunteers at her
children’s schools. She also enjoys outdoor activities
with her family, reading and traveling.

Ann
Tobin
Receptionist
Ann joined Adamy + Co. in 2007.
With several years of customer service and administrative
experience in both manufacturing and civil engineering, Ann’s
responsibilities include greeting and assisting visitors,
answering the switchboard and providing support to the
administration department.
Outside the office, Ann enjoys
spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys
church activities and volunteering with literacy and English
as a Second Language programs.

Rob
Westdorp joined Adamy + Company, P.C. in December 2005.
Rob focuses on tax and accounting compliance services for
closely-held businesses and their owners and a number of
different consulting services.
Rob holds a
BBA in accounting and finance as well as a Masters degree
in accounting from Grand Valley State University.
His professional memberships include the
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and
the
Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.
Rob
received his CPA license in September 2007.
Outside of
work, Rob enjoys golf and other outdoor activities as well
